B i o g r a p h y

      Inés Montero was born in Seville (Spain). After having obtained her Bmus (1st class Hons) from the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Manuel Castillo” de Sevilla in 2010, she continued her studies with Krzysztof Smietana at Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London), where he finished her Master of Music in Performance´s degree in 2012.

           In 2020 she decided to broaden her studies in the research field and she has recently completed a Master in Musical Research at the Valencian International University.

       During her studies in Spain she was a student of Anca Bitan, Alejandro Tuñón and Matthis Fisher (Academy of Orchestral Studies “Barenboim-Said”). She has received lessons and masterclasses from Silvia Marcovici, Yossi Zivoni, Donald Weilerstein, Walter Reiter, Mark Gothoni and Alexander Trostianski, among others.

        She has been awarded several prizes, such as the First Prize of the III Concurso Andaluz de Música “Muñoz Molleda”,  La Línea de la Concepción, “Premio Musical Ortiz” in the “IV Concurso Nacional de Jóvenes Intérpretes Ciudad de Bollullos” and “Premio Extraordinario Fin de Carrera”, Seville.

         She has played as concertmaster with the “Joven Orquesta Nacional de España” (National Youth Orchestra of Spain) ,“Orquesta Joven de Andalucía” (Andalusian Youth Orchestra) and “Orquesta Sinfónica Goya”. She has worked with professional orchestras such as the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburg Sinfonia, Orquestra de Cadaqués, Orquesta Ciudad de Almería and Orquesta Sinfónica Goya; and with conductors such as Michael Thomas, Daniel Barenboim, Vasily Petrenko, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Eivind Gullberg Jensen, Andrew Manze, Lothar Koenigs, Enrique Mazzola, Arturo Tamayo, James Gaffigan, Patrick Davin, Alejandro Posada, James Ross, Pedro Halffter, Diego Masson, James MacMillan…

      She has performed in the BBC Proms (Royal Albert Hall , London), Royal Opera House (Covent Garden, London), Barbican Hall (London), Royal Festival Hall (London), Konzerthaus (Berlin), Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Donald Gordon Theatre (Cardiff), St. David´s Hall (Cardiff), Auditorio Nacional de Música (Madrid), Auditorio de Zaragoza, Teatro de la Maestranza (Sevilla)...     

       Chamber music forms a very important part of her career. As a member of the Cuarteto Ágora, she has given concerts in Spain and Germany and has received masterclasses from members of the KUSS, Guarneri and Alban Berg Quartets, as well as from Nobuko Imai, Eberhardt Feltz and Stephan Goerner.

      As a soloist, she has played under the baton of Walter Reiter, Juan Luis Pérez and Francisco J. Cintado.

      Among her recordings, it is worth mentioning her participation as solo violin in the piece “Las Indias Olvidadas” by Sergio Cervetti on the CD with the same name published by NIBIUS.

       In 2015 she has been a Jury member at the V Concurso de Jóvenes solistas "Javier Perianes" in Huelva.

  In September 2016 she got a tutti violin position at the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, where she has been working since then.
